Having worked in the software engineering industry professionally for coming up on 15 years, I've seen quite a few hype cycles and fads come and go in various states. Blockchain, NFTs, Microservices, Gatsbyjs, SSG - are but just some that have rocketed themselves into the minds of us nerds more recently. Generally, the popularity and relative impact and value provided by each of these topics can be quite disconnected.
On December 10th at 9:06pm, Lily Joy Phillips was born. Weighing in at a mighty 5 pounds and 12 ounces, Lily came into this world and had been an absolute blessing to both Melanie and I.
While migrating this website over to its current iteration, I went back and forth on how much of the previous content to migrate. Most of the old posts were very specific on technical implementations and most of them were horribly outdated by now.
A tale as old as time, but it's finally time to update my website to be relevant for 2024 and beyond. The last time I did this was just before I started working at Dropbox, which also happened to be right before Covid hit in the States. Quite a lot has changed since then.
Four weeks ago I started working at Dropbox as an Engineering Manager for Mobile. While this line of work isn’t that much of a departure from what I’ve been working on for the past 7 years, it is a big change for me because Dropbox is the largest and most established company I’ve ever worked for in my professional career.
